Product Review: BMW Direct replacement air filter
The filter is probably a better option when you take into consideration how long it will last, against a standard option.
Fitting this filter will not upset any of the engine settings.
The major benefit is the higher volume of filtered air, being available to the engine.
The sound levels are basically the same, but you could see an improvement in economy and performance.
P.S. Changing the air filter on these models (standard or otherwise) is not a two minute job, and all engine top covers need to be removed and refitted carefully.
